Job OverviewThe Security Officer plays a critical role in identifying and mitigating risks to the company's integrity, personnel, processes, and assets. As a member of the Security Team, the successful candidate will work closely with the Team Leader, Security, to ensure the protection of company assets and the safety of personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in all safety and security-related programs and ensure that all concerns are reported to supervisory personnel.
- Champion the protection of company assets, including people, physical property, financial resources, and information, to mitigate risks of loss, misuse, and abuse.
- Provide immediate response to security and emergency situations, conduct video surveillance, alarm monitoring, and access control functions for high-risk areas.
- Identify, investigate, and report all breaches of approved policy/procedures.
- Apply various company policies related to drugs, alcohol, theft of property, etc.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate electronic records, filing, and database systems.
- Assist in the evaluation of current and proposed security systems/practices by assessing risks, reviewing performance, and recommending improvements.
- Participate in internal audits and searches of personnel, property, and vehicles.
- Undertake various specialized security roles as needs dictate.
- Assist in the training and development of new hires.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Experience using standard technology systems for security, including video surveillance, access control, alarm monitoring, incident reporting, and related database systems.
- Northwest Territory Security Officer Certification is considered an asset.
- 3+ years' experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience in associated fields (security, crime prevention, emergency planning).
