Senior Manager, Indirect Tax - A Key Role at BDO Canada

BDO Canada is a leading professional services firm that values its people and clients. We're seeking a Senior Manager to join our Indirect Tax team, where you'll play a critical role in delivering exceptional service to our clients.

Your Responsibilities
  • Provide expert Indirect Tax support to colleagues and clients, including Goods & Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax, provincial-level sales taxes, carbon taxes, Luxury Tax, and Underused Housing Tax.
  • Conduct in-depth research on Indirect Tax issues and prepare comprehensive correspondence and client deliverables.
  • Oversee and review Indirect Tax compliance for clients, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations.
  • Liaise with tax authorities on Indirect Tax matters for clients, resolving complex issues and ensuring seamless communication.
  • Assist with tax authority examinations, audits, and voluntary disclosures as they relate to Indirect Taxes, providing expert guidance and support.
  • Manage practice matters, such as billings, accounts receivable, and client onboarding procedures, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Coach and develop junior team members, sharing your expertise and knowledge to drive growth and success.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance Indirect Tax services, collaborating with colleagues to drive innovation and excellence.
  • Stay up-to-date with all legislation pertaining to Indirect Taxes, ensuring your expertise remains current and relevant.

Your Qualifications and Experience
  • A CPA/CMA/CGA designation is preferred but not required.
  • Completion of the CPA GST/HST In-Depth Course is highly valued.
  • A minimum of eight years' experience in Indirect Taxes is essential.
  • You value teamwork, client service, and quality in your work, with a strong focus on problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
