Reporting Structure

This role reports directly to the Vice President of Law.

Key Responsibilities

The Lead Legal Advisor will provide comprehensive legal support to Kenvue Canada Inc. We are looking for a proactive individual capable of delivering both anticipatory and responsive legal counsel across various business initiatives, including:

  • Sales and marketing strategies
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Healthcare regulations
  • Privacy and data protection
  • Digital marketing and e-commerce
  • Advertising claims and substantiation

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about continuous learning and possess a solid understanding of relevant laws and regulations, ensuring they remain informed of any updates. Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating legal matters in collaboration with business partners, internal legal teams, and external counsel to facilitate business opportunities while ensuring compliance with laws and internal policies.
  • Identifying potential legal risks and developing strategies to mitigate them, ensuring smooth business operations.
  • Providing legal advice and support to various departments within the organization.
  • Drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements, including sales, distribution, digital marketing, and influencer agreements.
  • Managing relationships with external legal counsel.
  • Ensuring adherence to applicable laws, industry standards, and internal guidelines.
  • Conducting legal research and offering insights on legal matters.
  • Participating in cross-functional teams to support business objectives.
  • Communicating legal risks and opportunities to senior leadership.
  • Creating and implementing training programs for business teams on legal and compliance issues.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Juris Doctor or equivalent legal qualification with admission to a Canadian Provincial bar.
  • License to practice law in Canada.
  • Over 5 years of relevant experience in private practice and/or in-house legal roles.

Preferred:

  • Strong understanding of contract law and the ability to collaborate effectively while also working independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships and demonstrate leadership.
  • Ability to adapt communication styles to engage effectively with individuals at various levels of legal understanding.
  • Exceptional drafting and negotiation skills, combined with strong legal and business acumen.
  • Strategic and analytical mindset, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to manage tight deadlines and prioritize multiple demands.
  • Familiarity with advertising regulations, particularly in print and digital media, as well as experience in promotional claims review.
  • Experience in the consumer healthcare or packaged goods sectors is advantageous.
