Job Summary

Gardewine is seeking a skilled Tractor/Trailer Mechanic to join our team in Thunder Bay, Ontario. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance checks and servicing on tractors and trailers
  • Complete electrical, interior, air brake system, tire, body repairs, and welding as required
  • Assist in other types of repairs or general maintenance
  • Facilitate safety inspections and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Repair or replace equipment as needed
  • Assess equipment to determine if it requires repair or maintenance
  • Recognize and report faults or malfunctions on all company equipment
  • Coordinate with other maintenance staff and the terminal to determine priorities for equipment repair
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Perform all work in a safe manner and comply with company safety practices, policies, and procedures
Requirements
  • High School diploma with a minimum of two years' experience in a fast-paced maintenance department
  • Knowledge and experience in preventative maintenance, including electrical, interior, air brake systems, tire, welding, and body maintenance
  • Government Inspection Certification preferred
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and as a team player
  • Basic set of hand tools required
Physical Demands

The physical demands of this position are above average. You must be able to lift up to 50lbs, bend and twist consistently, and stand all day. You will be required to climb in and out of tractors and trailers. You must have a good sense of balance, hand and foot coordination, and be able to assess weights and judge distances and heights. You will be required to work in varying temperatures and must be able to operate power equipment. Personal protective equipment must be worn.
