Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Tractor/Trailer Mechanic to join our team in Thunder Bay, Ontario. This role is responsible for performing routine maintenance on our Tractor/Trailer fleet, including electrical, interior, air brake system, tire, body repairs, and welding as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance checks and servicing
- Complete repairs and maintenance on Tractor/Trailer equipment
- Assist in other types of repairs or general maintenance
- Facilitate safety inspections
- Repair/replace equipment when necessary
- Assess equipment to determine if they require repair
- Recognize and report faults or malfunctions on all company equipment
- Coordinate with other maintenance staff and the terminal to determine priorities for equipment repair
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Perform all work in a safe manner and comply with company policies and procedures
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with a High School diploma and a minimum of two years' experience working in a fast-paced maintenance department. Knowledge and experience in preventative maintenance, including electrical, interior, air brake systems, tire, welding, and body maintenance, are essential. Government Inspection Certification is preferred. Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills are also required.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands of this role are above average. The successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50lbs, bend and twist consistently, and stand for long periods. Climbing in and out of Tractor/Trailer equipment is also required. A good sense of balance, hand and foot coordination, and ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights are necessary. The ability to work in varying temperatures and operate power equipment is also required.
