Job Summary
Mackenzie Health is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our Day Surgery team. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to patients with complex care needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a workload effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and delegating responsibilities as needed.
- Address and resolve issues in a productive, respectful manner, utilizing effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Exercise sound professional judgment, adhering to best practice guidelines and evidence-based nursing standards.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive environment for all, ensuring compliance with patient and staff safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Practical Nurse Diploma from an approved nursing program, with current Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Minimum 2 years' of current experience in inpatient surgery, day surgery, or emergency, with proven clinical experience in patient-focused care.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, and verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to deliver information and work effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated strong decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to take initiative and adjust to new or unexpected events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Operating Room Certificate, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and recent Endoscopy, Urology, and Paediatric surgery experience.
- Recent completion of a physical assessment course, with membership in the Registered Practical Nurses' Association of Ontario (RPNAO) /Canadian Nurses Association (CNA).
- Ambulatory clinic experience, with the ability to speak a second language.
