About the RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Worker to join our team. As a Community Worker, you will be responsible for identifying the needs of our community and implementing various community action programs. You will act as a resource person for community groups and work collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve our goals.
Key Responsibilities- Perform all functions related to Enforcement (AM) stakeholders in relation to section 33 of the Youth Protection Act and the Health and Social Services Act (S-4.2), as necessary.
- Implement the provisions of the Youth Protection Act, the Youth Protection Reference Manual, By-Law 12 of the CBHSSJB, and policies and procedures of the Cree Youth Protection Department.
- Collaborate with youth and families to create intervention plans, according to established timeframes.
- Intervene in crisis situations and implement Court-ordered measures or agreements, as appropriate.
- Provide ongoing practical and psychosocial support to users, encouraging them to solve their problems and undertake activities that require individual effort.
- Reintegrate or keep children in the family environment or indicate the best plan for the child, connecting with the home community.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and partners, both internally and externally.
- Record notes in cases according to legal requirements and administrative requirements of the Cree Youth Protection Department.
- College diploma (DEC) in Social Work or other relevant college discipline from a recognized school by the competent ministry.
- 3 years of experience in the field of Youth Protection.
- Successful completion of the CHARLIE and PCFI trainings.
- Knowledge of Cree culture and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee.
- Ability to communicate with people, run interviews, and establish and maintain a "helping relationship" with beneficiaries.
- Ability to work in collaboration with CMC community workers, NNADAP workers, and other medical social services staff and other organizations within and outside the community.
Fluent in Cree and English; fluency in French is an asset.
OtherValid driver's permit class 5 meeting the standards of the Société d'assurance automobile du Québec and the Ministère des Transports du Québec; excellent driving record; available to travel inside and outside of the Eeyou Istchee territory, as required.
