Position Overview

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Wound Management, you will report directly to the Director of Nursing Practice & Learning, while also collaborating with the Director of Cardiovascular, Medicine, and Renal Program. Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, focusing on enhancing nursing education and maintaining professional standards of practice related to surgical and outpatient services.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary duties will include:

  • Leading educational initiatives and providing expert clinical consultation to improve clinical practices for patients requiring vascular access.
  • Functioning within six core competencies: comprehensive care, health system optimization, education, research, leadership, and collaboration.
  • Adapting your focus based on program priorities and strategic directions.
  • Advancing the standard of care by supporting clinical staff in maintaining their competencies and fostering their professional growth.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the relevant regulatory body.
  • A Master of Science in Nursing or a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, with a commitment to enroll in an accredited Master's program within one year of employment.
  • A minimum of five years of clinical nursing experience, including at least two years specializing in wound care.
  • Demonstrated advanced leadership capabilities and effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including word processing and data management applications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
  • Capacity to adapt to rapidly changing environments and manage stress effectively.
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in teaching and coaching staff at both individual and group levels.
  • Knowledge of research methodologies and the application of evidence-based practices.
