Position Available:
Buyer – General Merchandise

This role will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Merchandising. We are eager to welcome an experienced buyer to our General Merchandise team, enhancing our leadership and management capabilities in anticipation of future growth. Key Responsibilities:
The Buyer will oversee all aspects of the purchasing cycle, including product selection, inventory management, marketing, training, and other functions aimed at boosting sales and profitability. Responsibilities include:
  • Travel across Canada, the United States, Europe, or Asia as necessary.
  • Participate in local and international trade shows to curate new product collections and stay updated on industry standards.
  • Engage with vendors to negotiate contracts and promotional activities.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with existing vendors while sourcing new suppliers for future products.
  • Identify profit enhancement opportunities through rebates, cash discounts, and promotional allowances.
  • Analyze performance indicators, including sales and discount levels.
  • Stay informed about relevant product trends and their potential impact on the company.
  • Monitor consumer buying patterns to determine product offerings.
  • Manage vendor lists, company reports, performance assessments, inventory turnover, gross margins, and return on investments.
  • Test sample products and report findings.
  • Oversee the management of defective returns.
  • Ensure accurate product records and address any discrepancies promptly.
  • Coordinate with store personnel to ensure stock levels meet inventory requirements and promotional needs.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure project completion.
