Land Acquisition Manager

Role ObjectiveThe primary aim of the Land Acquisition Manager is to spearhead and oversee direct engagement, negotiations, and strategic oversight of Liberty Utilities' significant renewable energy initiatives. This role is essential for successfully securing land rights and fostering robust relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Actively participate during the project initiation phase and throughout the development and planning stages.
- Remain engaged during the construction phase as a representative of Liberty Utilities.
- Utilize expertise in real estate and stakeholder relations to guide project development and land management.
- Accountable for operational planning and prioritizing tasks that support approved projects, ensuring successful land acquisition and stakeholder engagement.
- Secure all necessary land rights, including facilitating public outreach and managing community relations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, requiring strong interpersonal skills to interact with various stakeholders regularly.
- Work independently on assigned projects, traveling extensively to project sites to lead land acquisition efforts.
- Identify and manage potential opportunities and risks, communicating these to the broader project team.
- Draft, review, and amend contracts related to land and permitting.
- Maintain comprehensive records to support application processes and address potential legal challenges.
- Develop transition plans to ensure smooth handovers of projects from initiation to development and construction phases.
- Collaborate with the business development team on due diligence reviews of land tenure documentation.
- Enhance in-house knowledge and continuously improve processes for the Land Acquisition team.
- Manage the execution of real estate transactions and leases related to business development projects.
- Coordinate with various departments, including Operations and Legal, to ensure effective land management throughout all project stages.
- Engage with communities to demonstrate the benefits of Liberty Utilities' renewable projects.
- Oversee land zoning security for new development projects, including researching regulations and preparing applications.
- Supervise and mentor other Land Development Specialists.
Applicants should possess a valid driver's license and passport, with the ability to travel internationally as required. A comprehensive understanding of the legal and commercial aspects of land tenure, particularly in the renewable energy sector, is essential.
Travel requirements for this position range from 50% to 80% of the time, necessitating frequent meetings with landowners and project stakeholders.
