The Technical Specialist in Real Property Management delivers intricate real property management services to facilitate the execution of Client-Partner real property initiatives and programs. The role involves acting as a technical expert, executing facility management and maintenance, energy management, capital renewal planning, maintenance scheduling, and/or real property development planning programs. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating activities for complex projects, conducting research, assessments, and managing the Client-Partner relationship.

KEY AND PERIODIC ACTIVITIES
The following duties and responsibilities are representative but not exhaustive:
Primary

Execute complex real property project tasks (e.g., real property studies, asset evaluations, facility assessments, lease and land acquisition guidance, technical reviews, strategic and development planning)
Research, analyze, and formulate significant policies, standards, directives, and performance metrics
Create facility management operational requirement statements, prepare business cases, and conduct necessary investigations
Design real property training programs, Real Property Management Framework, organizational change management analysis, and Master Real Property Development Plan summaries
Develop, implement, and oversee real property management programs (preventive and demand maintenance administration) and/or energy initiatives to ensure the operational efficiency and energy performance of buildings and systems (e.g., identify maintenance needs, assess damage responsibility, prepare estimates and technical reports)
Create specific information management tools to monitor new reporting and real property data tracking requirements
Support and/or lead business development initiatives
Cultivate and maintain effective relationships within DCC, and with industry, Client-Partners, and/or stakeholders
Ensure compliance with quality standards, aligned with corporate and Client-Partner expectations
Manage risk effectively

Other

Generate monthly reports (e.g., internal and for Client-Partners)
Perform other duties as assigned

SKILLS
General and Specific Knowledge

Familiarity with best practices, methods, trends, and legislation in real property, land use, facility management, and maintenance
Proficiency in maintenance planning and assessment.
Knowledge of Building Information Modelling and Computer-Aided Design is advantageous
Understanding of project and risk management principles

Formal Education and/or Certification(s) and Experience

Minimum: College diploma in land use planning, engineering, architecture, facility/property management, or a related field with five years of relevant experience, or equivalent
Preferred: University degree in one of the aforementioned fields and/or additional training in project management; professional certification may be required depending on the position (e.g., Certified Engineering Technologist or related designation); eligibility for certification as a professional planner if working in a planning role (e.g., Registered Professional Planner, Real Property Administrator, Facilities Management Administrator)

Abilities

Proficient in applicable computer software and operating systems.
Capable of applying project and risk management techniques.

DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP

Provide functional direction and guidance to employees and Client-Partners

WORKING CONDITIONS

Typical office environment with occasional travel
Some responsibilities may be conducted on construction sites; the incumbent may occasionally be required to wear basic safety equipment
