Position Title:

Power Engineer

Position Overview:

This role is integral to the effective operation of our facilities, focusing on the maintenance and management of essential mechanical systems. The Power Engineer will engage in routine upkeep, scheduled inspections, and emergency response, ensuring optimal functionality across all systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct regular maintenance and inspections of mechanical systems, including HVAC units, pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, and compressors.
  2. Oversee maintenance tasks performed by external contractors, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
  3. Perform routine site inspections to assess equipment performance and identify any maintenance needs.
  4. Execute visual checks to detect potential issues, analyze equipment logs, and ensure operational efficiency.
  5. Address technical problems and propose enhancements to improve system efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  6. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  7. Manage access to restricted areas, maintaining safety and functionality.
  8. Respond effectively to emergencies, including power outages and other critical incidents.
  9. Document maintenance activities and update records in accordance with the Preventative Maintenance Program.
  10. Maintain inventory of tools and supplies, recommending new purchases as necessary.
  11. Ensure adherence to contract specifications and quality standards.
  12. Perform additional tasks as required.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Certification as a BC Power Engineer Class 4.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in facility operations, preferably within the healthcare sector.
  • Ability to work a rotational shift schedule in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, medical gas systems, building automation systems, and plumbing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Capability to respond promptly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Flexibility to perform a variety of tasks as assigned.
  • Ability to evaluate information against established criteria.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.

Note: This position operates within a 24/7 facility, requiring adaptability to various shifts including days, evenings, and nights.
