About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Development Leader to join our team at Capital One Canada. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will play a key role in leading the development of innovative software products and solutions that meet the needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of software products and solutions, working closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy high-quality software.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to identify business needs and develop solutions that meet those needs.
  • Design and implement software architectures, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, ensuring that it is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to all stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to leverage new technologies and approaches to drive business value.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support to help them grow and develop in their careers.
Requirements
  • At least 6 years of experience in software development, with a strong background in object-oriented programming and software design patterns.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture and design principles, with the ability to design and implement scalable, reliable, and performant software systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop effective solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 8 years of experience in software development, with a strong background in software architecture and design patterns.
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies such as AWS or Azure.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI/CD.
  • Experience with testing and quality assurance practices, with a strong understanding of testing frameworks and tools.
