The Vice President, Chief Data Officer (CDO) will provide strategic leadership across the organization in the design, implementation, and enhancement of data-driven strategies that support business objectives. Acting as a catalyst for a data-centric culture, the CDO will promote new data utilization practices and uphold excellence through comprehensive data governance and information policies. The VP, CDO will collaborate closely with the VP of Property and Casualty Business Intelligence (BI) and Chief Analytics Officer, as well as other key stakeholders, to develop enterprise-wide data capabilities that facilitate strategic and tactical business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine the data strategy and execution plan to enhance real-time analytics capabilities and support our Guided Omni and Distribution Strategies.
  • Establish and oversee data governance and management frameworks that ensure data integrity and trust across the organization.
  • Collaborate with enterprise and business stakeholders to lead compliance initiatives related to data assets, representing the organization in regulatory discussions.
  • Facilitate and co-chair data and analytics governance councils to ensure executive oversight of data governance policies and compliance.
  • Promote collaboration among technology, business, and analytics teams to drive strategic data integration across various business lines, focusing on client value and reusable data assets.
  • Serve as a trusted executive partner for business data enablement, articulating a vision for managing data as a valuable asset and equipping teams with the necessary skills for data initiatives.
  • Inspire and guide your leadership team to define and achieve strategic objectives through effective coaching, mentoring, and fostering a diverse and innovative culture.
  • Work alongside the VP of P&C BI & CAO to co-create an operational model that delivers successful business outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in data management, including at least 5 years in leadership roles overseeing cross-functional teams.
  • A post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in executing complex strategic data modernization initiatives.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud-based data platforms, financial data governance, data architecture, or data engineering.
  • Familiarity with data regulatory compliance requirements relevant to the financial services sector.
  • Strong business acumen with experience in leading complex enterprise processes and information strategies.
  • Expertise in guiding teams to address complex challenges and fostering an innovative, collaborative environment.
  • Proficient in navigating organizational complexity and ambiguity with a positive and resilient approach.
