Job Title: Youth Support Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Youth Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will provide essential support to youth in crisis, helping them to achieve stability and independence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily support and supervision to youth, ensuring their basic needs are met.
  • Assess the needs of each youth and develop personalized case plans to address their challenges.
  • Make referrals to community resources and services, such as housing, education, and employment programs.
  • Facilitate weekly resident meetings to communicate available programs and services, and address concerns and feedback.
  • Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution as needed, and conduct exit interviews with clients.
  • Conduct intake processes with clients, using the VISPDAT needs assessment tool and HIFIS case management system.
  • Perform nightly room checks to ensure the safety of residents and the facility.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a child/youth-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three years' experience working with at-risk or street-involved youth.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to the unique needs of each client.
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to advocate for clients and make professional referrals.
  • Experience using a case management system, such as HIFIS, and VI-SPDAT, an asset.
