Key Responsibilities- Design and Layout: Prepare detailed layouts and designs for building projects, adhering to building codes and regulations.
- Material Preparation: Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join various materials, including wood, wood substitutes, and lightweight steel.
- Construction and Installation: Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
- Finishing Touches: Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
- Project Management: Schedule and coordinate work on sites, ensuring timely completion of projects.
- Quality Control: Conduct site surveys and inspections to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Training and Development: Instruct apprentices and provide guidance on best practices and techniques.
- Estimation and Budgeting: Estimate costs and materials required for projects, ensuring accurate budgeting and forecasting.
- Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on existing structures, including residences and wooden structures in various establishments.
- 1-2 years of experience in carpentry or a related field.
- Permanent employment with a standard 32-40 hour workweek.
- Fluency in English as the primary language of communication.
