About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist I to join our team at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients, including assisting with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and providing support for mechanical ventilation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Perform diagnostic and therapeutic assessments, interventions, and follow-ups related to respiratory therapy, including assisting with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and providing support for mechanical ventilation.
  2. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and complete records, reports, and workload statistics according to established departmental standards.
  3. Interdisciplinary Team Collaboration: Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care goals, therapeutic/diagnostic strategies, and program-related issues.
  4. Equipment Maintenance and Quality Control: Monitor and perform required maintenance, cleaning, calibration, evaluation, and quality control of respiratory and related equipment.
  5. Quality Improvement and Education: Participate in quality improvement activities, including the development, implementation, and evaluation of written procedures and standards, and provide in-service education as required.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care credentialing exam.
  • Certifications and Licenses: Eligible for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT), and possession of and maintained Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively, deal with others effectively, organize and prioritize work, operate related equipment, and perform the duties of the position.
