About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Assistant to join our team at Woodpecker Homes Ltd. as a Site Support Specialist. This is a permanent position that offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Key Responsibilities
  • Site Operations: Assist in the loading, unloading, and transportation of construction materials, ensuring timely and efficient delivery to the site.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning and lubricating cranes, and mixing, pouring, and spreading materials such as concrete and asphalt.
  • Support Services: Assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction, remove rubble and other debris at construction sites, and direct traffic at or near construction sites.
  • Accessibility and Inclusion: Provide physical accessibility accommodations, such as ramps and elevators, and participate in government or community programs that support persons with disabilities.
  • Newcomer and Refugee Support: Participate in programs that support the settlement and integration of newcomers and refugees, and assist with immediate settlement needs.
  • Youth Support: Offer on-the-job training and mentorship opportunities to youth, and participate in government or community programs that support youth employment.
  • Veteran Support: Participate in programs that support Veterans, and offer mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities.
  • Indigenous Support: Develop and maintain relationships with indigenous communities, and provide cultural competency training to all employees.
  • Mature Worker Support: Apply hiring policies that discourage age discrimination, and offer phased retirement options and resources to help mature workers plan their retirement.
  • Visible Minority Support: Participate in programs that support members of visible minorities, and offer mentorship programs and diversity training.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Will train on the job.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights.
