Job Overview

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The incumbent will oversee the evaluation, monitoring, and authorization processes pertinent to the regulation and oversight of the auto insurance sector, including the assessment of accreditation applications, decision-making, and filing submissions. This role is crucial in supporting the strategic objectives of the Auto/Insurance Products division through ongoing risk assessment and monitoring.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the regulatory oversight of rates and underwriting processes, including the evaluation of accreditation applications, underwriting guidelines, product approvals, and actuarial assessments, ensuring compliance with established performance measures and best practices.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments of insurance providers, including the review of accreditation applications and continuous monitoring of compliance with eligibility criteria. Review and evaluate filing submissions to provide recommendations for approval in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform detailed analyses and reviews, including self-assessments and market intelligence, to evaluate insurer performance and identify potential issues, ensuring adherence to defined outcomes such as fairness and transparency.
  • Contribute to the development and upkeep of regulatory guidance within the Auto/Insurance Products sector.
  • Provide expert advice and support for government-led reforms in auto insurance products.
  • Manage relationships with a diverse portfolio of property and casualty insurers, ensuring clear communication of regulatory expectations and addressing any compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with various FSRA departments to manage stakeholder relationships and address potential violations of auto insurance legislation.
  • Assist senior management in shaping the strategic direction for the regulation and oversight of the auto insurance sector.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve operational risks and governance issues related to property and casualty insurance companies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

  • A diploma or degree in business administration, risk management, finance, law, economics, public policy, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the auto insurance sector, focusing on pricing, risk selection, or product development.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient in managing and coordinating external vendors and experts.
  • Expertise in building and maintaining complex relationships with various stakeholders.
  • In-depth understanding of the insurance industry.
  • Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with risk management and control frameworks.
  • Ability to operate effectively within a collaborative matrix structure.
