Role Overview:

As the Senior Plant Process Engineer, you will be instrumental in the development, design, commissioning, testing, and optimization of carbon capture gas processing facilities tailored for diverse industrial applications. You will collaborate with the Business Development/Sales Team, supporting initial engagements and technical discussions with prospective clients. Your responsibilities will encompass all project-related fundamental process engineering deliverables associated with Svante's licensing technology package for specific projects, including:

  • Block flow and process flow diagrams (PFD)
  • Heat and material balances
  • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
  • Utility flow diagrams and requirements
  • Specifications and sizing for major equipment
  • General plant layout and project capital/operational cost estimation

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of years of experience in the development, design, and operation of chemical processes.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as process simulation software (Hysys and Aspen).
  • A robust technical background with expertise in gas processing and steam generation systems.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to provide sound recommendations.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with solvent-based CO2 capture plants utilizing Selective Chemical Absorption Solvents and Thermal Kinetic Optimization processes, or relevant experience in gas separation processing or gas power plants.
  • A strong technical foundation in CO2 capture technologies.

Success Metrics in This Role:

  • Act as the technical lead from conception through completion, ensuring project delivery within budget, schedule, and quality standards for Svante's carbon capture initiatives.
  • Prepare Basis of Design documents, encompassing design standards, site conditions, available utilities, emission and waste stream limitations, and overall performance requirements for the carbon capture system.
  • Design greenfield gas processing plants, oversee modifications and upgrades, and troubleshoot existing process designs.
  • Apply principles of mass, momentum, and heat transfer to process and equipment design, including conceptual, scheme, and detailed design.
  • Conduct process hazard and operability analysis (HAZOP) and assess the safety and environmental impact of the plant.
  • Perform techno-economic analysis (TEA) and evaluate the capital and operational costs of projects during the pre-construction phase.
