Job PurposeEnerSys Delaware Inc. is seeking a Lead Engineering Manager for Power Solutions to oversee our Power Systems Engineering team within the Energy Systems facilities. In this pivotal leadership position, reporting to the Director of Power Solutions Product Development, the Lead Engineering Manager will guide, manage, and actively participate as a key member of the Power Systems Engineering team, focusing on team development, engineering methodologies, product innovation, and ongoing engineering support.
Key Responsibilities• Actively engage in defining, brainstorming, developing, and executing the Power Systems Engineering product roadmaps.
• Oversee and allocate the workload of the Power Systems team to ensure appropriate resources are assigned to planned development initiatives and support ongoing engineering tasks.
• Provide mentorship and leadership to ensure the Power Systems team delivers effective design solutions, accurate documentation, and comprehensive manufacturing and testing support to fulfill customer orders.
• Address technical, procedural, and personnel challenges; take ownership of issues and responsibility for resolutions.
• Foster strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization involved in the sales, specification, design, construction, testing, inspection, shipping, and support of Power System products to promote a collaborative environment.
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, including flowcharts, templates, reports, record-keeping, and work instructions for all Power Systems engineering processes.
• Analyze data and recommend immediate actions to uphold operational excellence and financial performance in line with departmental KPIs.
• Directly manage assigned personnel, including staffing levels, employee relations, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, salary administration, training, and career development.
• Actively participate in the design, documentation, and testing of Power Systems as required due to peak workloads or complex projects.
• Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and leadership acumen by acquiring in-depth knowledge of the Power Systems products offered by EnerSys; exhibit analytical thinking, sound judgment, and contribute innovative ideas with a proactive attitude.
• Engage in Continuous Improvement initiatives as appropriate.
Qualifications• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or project management capacity; demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience as a Power Systems Designer or similar role.
• Proficiency in simulation and modeling techniques and tools (including but not limited to Model Based Design, Parametric Design, Hardware in the Loop, Model in the Loop, System in the Loop).
• Comprehensive knowledge of AC and DC Power Systems design and applicable codes and standards; experience in telecommunications products is advantageous.
• Proven track record of successful developments utilizing Verification and Validation processes, with a strong command of the toolchain and software packages used for managing and documenting the process.
• Intermediate skills in ERP systems, PLM, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Altium, and MS Office applications.
• In-depth understanding of engineering documentation, including schematics, drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Strong creative problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Excellent customer relationship management skills.
• Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Capacity to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team setting.
• Willingness to travel as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in telecommunications and/or outdoor enclosure design and manufacturing sectors.
• Familiarity with AC and DC Power Systems for telecommunications or wireless applications, and knowledge of UL/CSA and Bellcore Standards (CSA, NEMA, NEBS, GR-487).
• Understanding of thermodynamics, electronic enclosures and packaging, sheet-metal processes, machining, plastic molding, and HVAC systems.
• Experience with Product Development stage-gate processes.
• Experience leading global teams.
• Knowledge of advanced processes or practices (e.g., Reliability Engineering, Systems Engineering, Accelerated Life Testing) is a significant advantage.
