About the Role:

The Housing Services Assistant is a key member of the Brock University team, responsible for providing exceptional service to students and guests residing on campus. This role requires a high level of customer service, problem-solving, and communication skills to ensure a positive experience for all residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide front-line support to students and guests, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  2. Assess and prioritize requests, determining the most effective course of action to meet the needs of residents.
  3. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless service delivery, including coordinating with facilities management, residence life, and other university departments.
  4. Process residence check-ins, check-outs, and room movements, ensuring accurate and efficient service.
  5. Coordinate short-term housing accommodations for medical or emergency needs, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
  6. Participate in residence move-in and move-out events, supporting logistics and ensuring a smooth experience for residents.

Requirements:

  1. Completion of a secondary school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Demonstrated front-line experience in a customer service role, preferably in a university or college setting.
  3. Experience working with young adults, preferably in a residence or student life environment.
  4. Solid computer skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and web-based applications.
  5. Knowledge of university policies and procedures, particularly those related to residence life and student services.
  6. Proven ability to provide quality customer service in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  7. Strong understanding of the student residence experience and ability to empathize with residents.
  8. Strong document management, attention to detail, accuracy, and administrative skills.
  9. Ability to operate efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment, switching between tasks as needed.
  10. Ability to produce formal notes and records, including proofreading documents for accuracy and tone.
  11. Knowledge of FIPPA regulations and related university confidentiality and release of student information practices.
  12. Exposure to building maintenance and service requirements.
  13. Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, tact, discretion, and diplomacy.
  14. Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  15. Excellent customer service, diplomacy, and conflict resolution skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience in a 24/7 operation.

Salary and Benefits:

  1. OSSTF G, Salary Scale ($39, $54,987.00).
  2. This position includes comprehensive benefits, including tuition waiver.
  3. This position is included in the OSSTF Bargaining Unit, with salary determined by the OSSTF Collective agreement.
  4. New members will be placed on the salary grid at the entry level.
