About the Role

Reporting to the Manager of Adult Outpatient Services in Mental Health and Addictions, the Clinical Psychologist will be an integral member of a diverse team, tasked with providing time-sensitive, evidence-based psychological evaluations and interventions for adults aged 19 and above facing Tier-3 mental health and substance use challenges. All services are delivered within a Stepped Care framework, guided by clinical care pathways tailored to specific disorders. Each clinician engages in a consultation group to foster collegial support, accountability, and the effectiveness of both assessments and treatments.

Candidate Profile

We invite applications from individuals who possess the following qualifications:

  • PhD in Clinical Psychology or Psy.D. Degree
  • Current registration as a Psychologist with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology (NSBEP) or active listing on the Candidate Register under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist
  • A minimum of two years of clinical experience working with adult populations, delivering time-limited, evidence-based psychological assessments and treatments for Tier-3 mental disorders
  • Proven skills in DSM diagnosis
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying time-limited, evidence-based psychological assessments and treatments for mental disorders to adult patients, with a commitment to this approach
  • Solid understanding of Stepped Care principles, clinical care pathways, and outcomes monitoring, along with a commitment to these practices
  • Knowledge of clinical supervision, professional development, and a commitment to ongoing learning
  • Skills in providing culturally sensitive, non-judgmental patient and family-centered care, with a commitment to these values
  • Experience supervising psychology residents, students, and peers
  • Practical knowledge of psychological testing relevant to adult populations
  • Ability to synthesize information, solve problems, and exercise sound judgment in decision-making
  • Dedication to quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practices
  • Commitment to fostering a culture that emphasizes safety, ethical practices, and organizational health
  • Experience in training and serving as a resource for other allied health professionals and medical specialists
  • Proficiency in additional languages is an asset, with a preference for French

Work Schedule
  • Permanent Full-Time Position; 75 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits

Psychologist PhD (Candidate Register):
$56.46 per hour

Psychologist PhD (Registered):
$62.74 per hour

Successful candidates may qualify for a benefits package that includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan. (Applicable for Permanent Long Assignments Only)

Additionally, successful candidates may be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance under a defined Return of Service contract.
