Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Winter Maintenance Operator to join our team. As a Winter Maintenance Operator, you will be responsible for performing road maintenance activities on provincial highways, responding to emergency situations, and assisting in implementing an emergency plan. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation, including fuel reports, safety reports, and hours of service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform road maintenance activities on provincial highways
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as spills and accidents, during inclement weather
  • Assist in implementing an emergency plan, providing traffic control at accident scenes as per the contract requirements
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including fuel reports, safety reports, and hours of service
  • Maintain and clean equipment, conducting routine maintenance and minor repairs
  • Make snow and ice control decisions during winter and initiate equipment and operator call outs
  • Inspect patrols and create deficient lists for the Foreperson
  • Respond to public complaints and operate a variety of equipment

Requirements

  • Valid DZ License with a clean Driver's Abstract
  • Experience in snow and ice control along with knowledge of OTM Book 7
  • Knowledge of highway maintenance
  • Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to work assigned shifts, and extended hours (evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays) as winter events require
