About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-focused individual to join our winter maintenance team as a Winter Patroller. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing road maintenance activities on provincial highways, responding to emergency situations, and assisting in implementing an emergency plan.

As a Winter Patroller, you will be working in a fast-paced environment, responding to spills and accidents during inclement weather, and providing traffic control at accident scenes. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation, such as fuel reports, safety reports, and hours of service, as well as maintaining and cleaning equipment, conducting routine maintenance, and minor repairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform road maintenance activities on provincial highways
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as spills and accidents during inclement weather
  • Assist in implementing an emergency plan and providing traffic control at accident scenes
  • Maintain accurate documentation, such as fuel reports, safety reports, and hours of service
  • Maintain and clean equipment, conduct routine maintenance, and minor repairs
Requirements
  • Valid DZ License with a clean Driver's Abstract
  • Experience in snow and ice control, along with knowledge of OTM Book 7
  • Knowledge of highway maintenance
  • Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to work assigned shifts, and extended hours (evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays) as winter events require
