Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Vice President of Operations to lead our Facility Management team in central and western Canada (Ontario) and the United States. This key leadership role will work in collaboration with functional support teams and business development to realize the full potential of this expansive market and our strong delivery capabilities.

Responsibilities

The Senior Vice President of Operations will have full responsibility for the profit center, ensuring that employees, customers, and shareholders' expectations are met. Key responsibilities include:

  • Health and Safety
    • Protect our most valuable asset, our people.
    • Ensure that action plans are in place and effective and that teams have the necessary resources.
    • Ensure compliance with company rules by all employees under his/her supervision.
  • Operations
    • Lead a professional team that is dedicated to safety, quality, and customer service.
    • Coordinate with support departments to ensure a seamless delivery of customer-facing and back-office services.
    • Ensure the application of and compliance with work methods, policies, and procedures established by the company.
    • Mobilize new activities, offerings, and client sites within the framework of our business.
  • Customer Management
    • Establish strategic plans in line with the values and needs of each customer, in collaboration with the business development teams.
    • Represent the company and maintain close links with customer executives and establish business alignment with customers.
    • Ensure that contracts are renewed while protecting company and shareholder interests.
    • Understand customer goals, objectives, and challenges and propose solutions to expand customer relationships and offerings.
  • Business Development (in collaboration with sales development)
    • Establish strategic growth plans and coordinate efforts in the execution and in collaboration with the business development teams.
    • Align solutions and organization to market opportunities in Canada and the USA.
    • Support account planning and opportunity reviews and establish operational win strategies with his/her staff.
    • Develop relationships with senior customer decision-makers to align their needs with Equans capabilities and control outcomes.
  • Finance and Administration
    • Have full Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibility for the business.
    • Meet business plan and shareholders' requirements.
    • Monitor cash management.
    • Continuously improve performance.
    • Manage all risks, whether financial, legal, operational, or health, safety, and environment.
  • Human Resources Management
    • Set strategic vision and foster a team culture that is customer-centric.
    • Resource planning and adaptation of organization based on market opportunity and needs.
    • Manage and supervise employees under his/her responsibility.
    • Actively participate in the recruitment of key positions.
    • Manage team performance and lead the annual objectives process.
    • Ensure good communication with his team and develop engagement.
    • Identify training needs and ensure adequate development of all on-site personnel to prepare for succession.
    • Lead site union negotiations directly or through delegation, depending on maturity.
    • Ensure operations with the resource management teams in his department.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Recognized leadership experience in a multisite, multicultural environment and some knowledge of facility management activities.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a large geographically dispersed team.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in profitably growing a business.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in a business profit center role.
  • Knowledge of facility management and capacity to understand technical situations.
  • Proven capacity to develop the business with a strategic mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to develop long-term relationships at a senior level.
  • Ability to engage teams over the long term.
  • Able to coordinate multiple key initiatives at the same time.
  • Financial skills and expertise in managing a Profit Center.
  • Ability to travel regularly in Canada and the United States, and occasionally in Europe.
  • Able to obtain security clearances associated with different levels of governments.
  • Must be fluent in English (oral & written).
  • Having Pharma experience is a strong asset.
