Sustainability Strategy Advisor

The Sustainability Strategy Advisor plays a crucial role in formulating and implementing strategies that drive climate initiatives within the residential and small commercial sectors. This position involves conducting thorough market assessments and providing insights that guide customer segmentation and strategic decision-making processes. The advisor will collaborate with clients and various stakeholders to facilitate the acceleration of decarbonization efforts through the electrification of heating, hot water, and transportation systems, as well as promoting energy efficiency and behind-the-meter solutions like solar energy and battery storage.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the organization's sustainability initiatives.
- Lead market analysis, scenario planning, and feasibility studies to support business cases and inform corporate decision-making aligned with sustainability objectives. Stay informed on the latest market research techniques and best practices to enhance the quality of insights.
- Design and implement multi-channel outreach campaigns aimed at encouraging the residential and small commercial sectors to pursue decarbonization.
- Conduct research and analysis to support client climate initiatives. Identify opportunities for service enhancements and provide data to back recommendations, investment choices, and program development.
- Prepare and deliver reports and insights that aid in decision-making, support business cases, and shape team priorities.
- Maintain a visible presence in the market and stay updated on general market trends, technical aspects of climate initiatives, and relevant industry issues.
- Identify obstacles to climate action and collaborate with colleagues and partners to create and execute comprehensive solutions.
- Assist clients or their representatives throughout the climate action process, including identifying incentive programs, offering application support, and connecting with qualified trade allies.
- Document and maintain accurate records of client interactions related to climate initiatives. Analyze customer behavior to provide insights that support management decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, science, or a related technical field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or a Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in customer engagement, climate initiatives, conservation programs, or the electrical sector.
- Experience working within the residential and/or small commercial sectors.
- Valid Class "G" driver's license.
- Exceptional conceptual thinking, technical analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
- In-depth understanding of technologies and strategies for building decarbonization.
- Strong negotiation and influence skills; ability to persuade others to adopt new perspectives or actions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven stakeholder management capabilities.
- Demonstrated customer-centric approach with a track record of building effective relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, and industry contacts.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to monitor and report results to senior management in a dynamic environment.
- Proven success in fostering relationships and partnerships across various organizations.
- Results-driven mindset, with experience working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, including the ability to mediate and find common ground in disagreements.
- Experience managing projects from inception to completion, including planning and stakeholder coordination.
- Ability to meet targets and manage customer service KPIs.
Toronto Hydro offers a Hybrid Work Arrangement, allowing for remote work up to three days per week based on business requirements. Employees are expected to work onsite when necessary for activities that benefit from in-person collaboration.
