Sustainability Strategy Advisor

The Sustainability Strategy Advisor plays a crucial role in formulating initiatives and propelling client climate action within the residential and small business sectors. This position involves conducting thorough market assessments and guiding others in these analyses, providing insights that shape customer segmentation and influence strategic choices. The advisor will collaborate with clients and various market stakeholders to expedite decarbonization efforts through the electrification of heating, hot water, and transportation systems; the adoption of energy-efficient practices; and the implementation of behind-the-meter solutions like solar energy and battery storage.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the organization's sustainability initiatives.
- Lead market, scenario, and feasibility studies to bolster business cases and support decision-making aligned with corporate and sustainability strategies. Stay informed on market research techniques and best practices to enhance the effectiveness of insights.
- Design and implement multi-channel engagement and outreach campaigns aimed at motivating the residential and small business sectors to pursue decarbonization.
- Conduct research and analysis as necessary to support client climate initiatives. Suggest areas for service enhancements and provide data to back recommendations, investment choices, and sustainability program development.
- Prepare and deliver reports and insights to inform decision-making, support business cases, and influence team priorities.
- Maintain a visible presence in the market and stay updated on general market trends, fundamental technical aspects of climate action, and relevant industry issues.
- Identify internal and external obstacles to climate action, collaborating with colleagues and partners to devise and implement systemic solutions.
- Assist clients or their representatives throughout the climate action process, including identifying incentive programs, offering application support, and connecting with qualified trade allies.
- Document and maintain accurate records of climate action-related client interactions. Analyze and provide insights into client behaviors to support management decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, science, or a related technical field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in client engagement, climate initiatives, conservation programs, or the electrical sector.
- Experience in the residential and/or small business sectors.
- Valid Class "G" driver's license.
- Strong conceptual thinking, technical analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
- In-depth understanding of technologies, solutions, and pathways to decarbonization for buildings.
- Exceptional influence and negotiation skills; capable of persuading others to adopt or accept a viewpoint or course of action.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with well-developed stakeholder management capabilities.
- Proven customer-centric approach with a demonstrated ability to cultivate effective relationships with internal clients, external providers, and industry contacts.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to track, monitor, and report results to senior management in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated success in building relationships and effective partnerships within and across organizations.
- Results-driven mindset, with experience and capability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, including the ability to mediate and find common ground in disagreements.
- Experience in managing projects from inception to completion, including planning and stakeholder coordination.
- Ability to manage targets and customer service key performance indicators.
Toronto Hydro offers a Hybrid Work Arrangement, allowing for remote work up to three days per week, depending on business requirements. Employees are expected to be present on-site for activities deemed more effective in person. Candidates should reside within a reasonable commuting distance.
