Job Title: Thrift Store Sales Associate

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Thrift Store Sales Associate to join our team at The Salvation Army Port Elgin Thrift Store. As a Thrift Store Sales Associate, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, processing sales transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, including handling cash, credit card, and debit transactions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment by restocking shelves, sweeping, dusting, and mopping as needed.
  • Assist with receiving and processing donations, including sorting, pricing, and displaying merchandise.
  • Contribute to meeting store budgets by maintaining customer service standards and promoting sales.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve store goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three months of prior retail experience preferred.
  • Cash handling experience and knowledge of cash register operations required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time position based on 35 hours per week.
  • Schedule may vary from week to week and include weekdays and Saturdays.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
