Recreational Support Aide, Adult Day Services

Position Overview:
As a key member of VON Canada, you will engage in providing exceptional support within the Adult Day Program, specifically focusing on the Overnight Stay component. This role is essential in ensuring that participants enjoy a safe and enriching environment during their overnight activities.
Employment Details:Status: Permanent, Part-time (0.6 FTE)
Work Schedule: Days, Evenings, Nights
Hours Bi-Weekly: 75
Union Affiliation: CUPE
On-Call Requirement: Yes
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in developing and implementing personalized client service plans.
- Evaluate and adjust service plans in collaboration with team members.
- Design and facilitate engaging social and recreational activities.
- Participate in both individual and group engagement sessions.
- Support clients with their daily living activities.
- Recognize and mitigate potential risk factors.
- Ensure a secure and safe environment for all participants.
- Leverage volunteer support effectively.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work closely with the Program Coordinator, Recreation Therapist, and management to enhance program delivery.
Qualifications:- Completion of a diploma or certificate in health care, social services, or recreation.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification is mandatory.
- Prior experience in Adult Day Services or with elderly populations is advantageous.
- Experience with individuals facing cognitive or physical challenges is essential.
- Strong communication abilities.
- Excellent observational skills.
- Awareness of community resources.
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Criminal Records Check is necessary.
- A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance are required.
- Ability to utilize Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
Work Environment: Candidates should be prepared for physical demands including attention to detail, lifting, and various movements such as bending and reaching.
