Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Hardware Reliability Engineer to enhance our team, focusing on satellite user terminal and landing station technologies. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability and performance of our hardware through comprehensive testing, analysis, and ongoing improvement initiatives.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct extensive reliability testing and analysis of satellite user terminal and landing station hardware components and systems.
  • Establish requirements for Mean Time Before Failure at the component level to achieve calculated reliability at the system level according to product definitions.
  • Develop and implement reliability test plans, including environmental stress testing, accelerated life testing, and failure mode analysis (FMA).
  • Work closely with design engineers to identify potential reliability issues and apply design enhancements based on testing outcomes.
  • Perform statistical analysis of test data to assess product reliability, forecast failures, and suggest improvements.
  • Create detailed test reports and present findings to stakeholders, offering clear recommendations for product enhancements.
  • Actively participate in design reviews to ensure reliability requirements are fulfilled and that Design For Excellence (DfX) principles are applied.
  • Assess supplier components and materials for reliability compliance and performance suitability, providing requirements for field replacement and repair strategies.
  • Define and implement reliability metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor product reliability throughout its lifecycle.
  • Stay informed about industry standards and best practices related to hardware reliability testing and analysis.

Education & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in hardware reliability engineering, particularly in satellite communication or aerospace industries.
  • Proficient in reliability testing methodologies such as HALT, HASS, FMEA, and environmental testing; knowledge of terminal regulatory and homologation is a plus.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 or DO-160 is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in statistical analysis tools for reliability assessment.
  • Familiarity with reliability prediction software (e.g., ReliaSoft, Relex, Windchill) is beneficial.
  • In-depth knowledge of satellite user terminal hardware architecture and components.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Decision Making & Supervision:

This role does not have direct reports but involves collaboration with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

Working Conditions:

  • This position offers a hybrid work environment.
  • Working conditions are generally comfortable and typical of an office setting.
  • International travel may be required.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
