Job Title: Butcher Assistant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Butcher Assistant to join our team at Luigi & Sons in Yaletown. As a key member of our butchery team, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability of high-quality meats for our customers and providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with customers, build relationships, and ensure customer satisfaction
- Order, receive, inspect, and store meat upon delivery
- Cut, grind, and prepare meats for sale into portions and cooking forms
- Prepare custom cuts to meet customer needs
- Operate butcher's cutlery and powered equipment, and maintain them
- Weigh, package, price, and display products
- Manage budgets and track inventory
- Ensure adherence to food safety procedures and stock control guidelines
- Stay up-to-date on market trends and competitor activity
- Meet sales targets
Requirements:
- Experience in a meat department, working with equipment and machinery
- Technical butchery skills, including portion cutting and cleaning and grinding for sausages, burgers, etc.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and work ethic
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including working in a cold/refrigerated environment, lifting 50 lbs, and standing for extended periods
- Availability to work flexible scheduling, including weekends
