Senior Realtime Digital Control System Software/Systems Designer/Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Realtime Digital Control System Software/Systems Designer/Engineer to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a key member of our Computer Systems Engineering department, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing digital instrumentation and control systems for our nuclear projects.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will have a strong background in computer controls and a proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions. You will work closely with our team to develop and implement digital system designs, select and procure equipment, and perform software activities. Your expertise will be essential in developing the project cyber security framework procedures and producing preliminary design documentation for the plant-wide communications network.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement digital system designs for plant-wide communications networks.
- Prepare requirements and develop tools for test/development systems as needed for the production of safety-critical software.
- Execute software engineering tasks, including software requirements specification, software design descriptions, coding, verification, testing, and documentation.
- Evaluate computer vendor products and prepare processes and procedures for implementing such products into the computer software design, development, and V&V processes.
- Assist in planning activities associated with design, verification, and testing of computerized safety, control, and monitoring systems.
- Participate in the concept design of safety, control, and monitoring computer systems to define system requirements, computer architecture, product/tool technologies, and evaluate system performance and reliability.
- Develop software and scripts using a variety of programming languages/toolsets/environments, including IEC 61131-3 languages, C, C++, Varian/SSCI-890 Assembler, Fortran, Pascal, Visual Studio, LabView, XML, and Photon.
- Test script development using in-house scripting languages.
- Update and/or prepare Computer Engineering design documents, including software requirements specifications, software design descriptions, and software manuals.
- Interface with various engineering disciplines, suppliers, and other divisions within the company.
- Develop cyber security processes and documentation related to project activities (procurement, design, etc.) and identify vulnerabilities/controls for specific end-devices.
- Deliver technical presentations accurately and effectively.
- Manage assigned work effectively, including prioritizing, executing, managing schedule and budget, and reporting, to meet project goals.
- Honours degree in a relevant field of engineering or computer science from a university of recognized standing.
- 15+ years of experience in a computer controls environment is preferred, but may be waived.
- Familiarity or experience with software design/development based on documented industry or international guidelines/standards is an asset.
- Demonstrate good technical skills and problem-solving capabilities, and be able to seek practical solutions to engineering problems.
