About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Engineering Director to join our team at Loblaw Digital. As a key member of our data engineering practice, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our data engineering strategy, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data products and services that meet the needs of our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a high-performing team of data engineers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to deliver high-quality data products and services.
  • Develop and implement a data engineering strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and data science, to ensure the delivery of high-quality data products and services.
  • Design and implement data pipelines, architectures, and systems that meet the needs of our business.
  • Ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of our data systems and services.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and make recommendations for their adoption and implementation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on cloud-based technologies.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering high-quality data products and services.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles, including data modeling, data warehousing, and data governance.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms, including AWS, GCP, and Azure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
