We're seeking a seasoned Data Director to lead our engineering team in building and operating the online businesses of Canada's largest retailer.
As a key member of our team, you'll provide strategic direction and technical leadership to our data analytics, machine learning platform, and business intelligence teams.
Key Responsibilities- Accelerate our transformation by bringing a trusted Canadian brand to customers through engaging eCommerce experiences.
- Provide strategic direction and technical leadership to the data analytics, machine learning platform, and business intelligence teams.
- Build and manage a high-performing team of developers, M/L, and data engineers and analysts.
- Lead and execute initiatives bringing best practices and state-of-the-art thinking to our data engineering practice.
- Work closely with product teams and other tech directors to ensure the ML Ops platform meets the highest standards of operational excellence.
- Work with the data science team to ensure we provide the tooling and support to maximize the business impact of machine learning in our technology platform.
- Work with business and product teams to ensure the BI platform empowers reporting and data literacy across the organization.
- Lead web analytics and marketing intelligence teams to map customer behavior and derive insights.
- Work with the SRE organization, security, and privacy groups to ensure data governance and access control are implemented robustly and scalable.
- Drive a culture of engineering excellence within the Data Platform and Business Intelligence teams.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science).
- Expertise in SQL and hands-on experience with software development (preferably at least either Java or Python, ideally both).
- Familiarity with modern SDLC practices and agile methodologies.
- Solid intuitive understanding of data modeling fundamentals, and how they inform data sources, usability, warehouse, and pipeline design.
