As a Flight Test Engineer on Production Aircraft, you will conduct regular flight operations. You will be accountable for test planning, ensuring readiness, and maintaining safety during flight and test operations for both Production and Experimental Aircraft. Your work will be conducted under the supervision of the Manager of Flight Operations and Chief Pilot.
In your capacity as a Senior Engineering Specialist, you will collaborate with the Flight Test Engineering Team to provide critical operational information necessary for conducting tests (including test limitations, Restrictions and/or Special Instructions (RSI's), and test procedures). You will be responsible for reviewing and approving Non-Conformity Reports (NCR's) and RSI's. Additionally, you will liaise with System Engineering, Methods Engineering, Flight Sciences, and Pre-Flight teams regarding the planning, status, and outcomes of tests performed on aircraft (including hangar, ground, and in-flight tests). You will also create test documentation and reports that align with Bombardier Flight Test Center standards, ensuring that aircraft configurations are suitable for testing (including component levels and test instrumentation).
Long-Term ResponsibilitiesCoordinate, lead, and facilitate reviews and briefings on:
- Test Readiness
- Safety Of Flight (SOF)
- Test Hazard Analysis (THA)
- Pre- and Post-flight briefings
Prepare and write Test Cards/Plans based on Test Definition Sheets (TDS). Ensure compliance with company, FAA, and Transport Canada regulations for testing, as well as adherence to safety and risk mitigation protocols, and proper test equipment operating procedures. Collaborate closely with the Bombardier Flight Test Center and other completion centers.
Qualifications for SuccessYou hold a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (P. Eng.) and possess over ten (10+) years of experience in Aerospace Engineering, specifically in Flight Test Engineering. A Master's degree in Engineering/Aviation and/or graduation from a Test Pilot School is preferred. You have a solid understanding of Civil/Commercial aircraft certification Part 25 requirements and are knowledgeable about aircraft systems and their operations, with the ability to interpret aircraft systems schematics. A Private or Commercial Pilot's License is also required. Proficiency in MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project & Access) is essential. You are self-motivated and demonstrate strong communication, planning, and organizational skills. You are willing to travel to remote locations for testing, which may require short (1 week) or extended (several weeks) stays, and you possess a valid Passport. Excellent problem-solving skills are a must.
