About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Porter Assistant to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a Porter Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth transportation of patients and medical equipment throughout our facilities.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Transporting patients to and from various departments and locations within the hospital
  • Assisting patients with mobility issues, such as transferring them from beds to stretchers or wheelchairs
  • Delivering medical supplies, specimens, and other items as required
  • Ensuring that stretchers and other equipment are cleaned and prepared for use
  • Performing other related duties as directed by Facility Support Services Management

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent education
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, particularly French
