About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Porter Assistant to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a Porter Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth transportation of patients and medical equipment throughout our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport patients to and from various departments, including surgical and diagnostic procedures
  • Deliver supplies, specimens, charts, and other items as required
  • Ensure stretchers are cleaned and prepared for patients
  • Perform other related duties under the direction of Facility Support Services Management

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or GED required
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with patients and other staff and public
  • Ability to assist patients from bed to stretcher and wheelchairs as well as onto examining tables
  • Current CPR Certification or willingness to complete CPR Certification within 30 days
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
