Job Title: Junior Financial Analyst - Internal Controls

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Financial Analyst to join our team in Winnipeg or Toronto. As a Junior Financial Analyst, you will play a key role in developing and implementing internal control policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct audits of accounts related to operational controls, ensuring adherence to compliance standards and accuracy in financial records.
  • Utilize analytical skills to examine transactional data, identifying suspicious or unusual activities and proposing corrective measures for resolution.
  • Monitor financial transactions, maintaining detailed records and obtaining necessary approvals based on predefined threshold limits.
  • Estimate error amounts associated with trade corrections, facilitating accurate reporting and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Initiate and process corrective tickets for trade corrections, employing suitable procedures to rectify discrepancies promptly and effectively.
  • Facilitate the submission of iMOST for NBIN processing as required.
  • Execute daily uploads and reversal processes of transfer fees, ensuring accurate and timely processing of fee transactions.
  • Prepare comprehensive monthly reports on transfer fees for transitioning IA teams, providing valuable insights and facilitating a smooth transition process.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to design, document, and monitor internal control frameworks, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in leveraging technology to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls.
  • Explore innovative solutions and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Technology, or similar field of study.
  • Minimum 1-2+ years of experience in a software support environment, preferably with exposure to financial technology solutions.
  • Experience working with a discretionary Portfolio Manager considered an asset. Previous operations experience is an asset.
  • Advanced Excel skills essential for this role.
  • Proficiency with the MSOffice suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Proven data mining experience, including basic programming acumen, a strong asset.
  • Previous experience or familiarity with internal controls or projects focused on cost effectiveness an asset.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, including debit and credit entries, and journaling, an asset.
  • Strong understanding of the wealth management sector, including security types, trading practices, and financial instruments, an asset.
