Position Overview:
The Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager is primarily responsible for safeguarding the food produced at the bakery facility by developing and executing a comprehensive food safety and quality strategy, ensuring compliance with all regulatory, customer, and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
The FSQA Manager serves as a pivotal leader within the bakery, collaborating closely with the Bakery Director. This role is accountable for the creation, implementation, and oversight of food safety and quality assurance programs, ensuring that the production team adheres to established food safety and quality benchmarks. The FSQA Manager reports directly to the FSQA Central Services Director.
- Lead the HARPc Food Safety Plan team to assess and implement controls for biological, chemical, physical, and economically motivated hazards.
- Identify potential food safety risks in products and processes, implement corrective measures, and verify their effectiveness.
- Act as the Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI), overseeing the food safety plan and validating preventive controls.
- Ensure compliance with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards, assisting in reviews of AIMS programs.
- Conduct thorough investigations of customer complaints, utilizing root cause analysis to determine corrective actions.
- Foster a culture of food safety within the bakery through education, communication, and recognition initiatives.
- Manage the FSQA team, setting objectives to meet key performance indicators and identifying training needs.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintain documentation in compliance with AIMS.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Technology, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5-7 years of leadership experience in food safety and quality assurance within the food manufacturing sector. Relevant certifications such as HACCP, PCQI, or SQF Practitioner are preferred.
