We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team at Neskantaga Education Centre. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education to students with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans for students with special needs
  • Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure student success
  • Provide instruction and support in a variety of subjects, including literacy and numeracy
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education
Requirements:
  • Membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
  • Special Education Additional Qualifications (EA or SP)
  • Appreciation and understanding of Aboriginal culture and traditions
  • Experience working in First Nation schools or with Indigenous students
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff in a diverse community
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Fluency in Ojibway
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and assessment
  • Knowledge of Ontario curriculum and assessment practices
