Operations Supervisor Job Description

FortisBC is seeking a skilled Operations Supervisor to join our team in transforming B.C.'s energy landscape. As a leader in the electric utility industry, we are committed to a safe and inclusive culture where each of us can connect, belong, and grow.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional leadership to the Distribution Design group, ensuring continuity and efficiency for the Company, including customer escalations.
  • Take the lead on selecting, orientating, and training new employees, ensuring they have the appropriate coaching to support performance, quality of work, ongoing training, and development.
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility by managing costs associated with staff, facilities, vehicles, tools, and equipment, reviewing and approving invoices, third-party contracts, and internal service agreements, and investigating, resolving, and reporting any discrepancies.
  • Facilitate a safe and inclusive environment for staff to meet health, safety, and emergency requirements in adherence to safe work procedures and practices, including Site Safe Work Planning.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in a related discipline from an accredited university or a diploma of engineering technology from a recognized program, plus a minimum of five years of recent and related experience within a leadership capacity.
  • Certified member in the applied science technologists and technicians of B.C. or a professional equivalent.
  • An equivalent combination of education, related training, and experience may be considered.
  • A passion for developing quality solutions with a safety-focused mindset and established knowledge of applicable regulations and standards impacting compliance of electric utility operations.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills that enable you to effectively engage staff, attend to emergencies, prioritize competing tasks, and skillfully resolve conflict.
