Collaborating with a dynamic and high-achieving team, this role encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities, including:

Collaborating closely with the Business Lead, Managers, Project Directors, Project Managers, and fellow engineers and designers across various design disciplines to deliver projects across multiple sectors, including Water (water/wastewater treatment, linear water, water resources), Transportation, Environmental (solid waste, landfill, contaminated sites, and remediation), and Energy and Resources. Leading the electrical design team in Western Canada, comprising engineers and designers. Partnering with the Business Group Leader (BGL) to establish the resources, systems, and processes necessary to meet client expectations and requirements. Assisting the BGL in developing, coaching, and mentoring the team. Scheduling and managing the workload for the team. Defining or validating the technical scope of projects and determining design and construction fees. Preparing comprehensive design drawing packages for projects of varying scales, ensuring adherence to budget and timelines, which include: Utility interconnection, Substation design, Electrical system protection and coordination, Low (LV) and medium (MV) voltage power distribution and motor control, Standby power systems design, Instrumentation and Control, Building services (lighting, security, DC systems), and Grounding Equipment layouts. Completing and reviewing electrical design calculations. Drafting contract documentation, including equipment specifications, cable/conduit schedules, installation specifications, equipment procurement documents, sub-contractor requisitions, scope-of-work, bill-of-materials, and process narratives. Conducting technical reviews and quality control of design drawings and documents, including professional sealing of technical documents. Providing support during tendering and construction phases, which includes responding to RFIs, assisting site personnel, reviewing shop drawings, evaluating electrical reports (short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, ground potential rise (GPR), harmonics), conducting site inspections, preparing testing plans, evaluating change orders, and participating in project meetings. Performing condition assessments for various facilities, including report writing and engaging in client meetings. Leading electrical-specific meetings with clients to present design options and system functionalities, as well as participating in design coordination meetings to address critical issues. Ensuring adherence to quality control processes. Coordinating electrical system designs with other engineering disciplines (process, mechanical, civil, structural), vendors, and external design team members, while providing guidance to internal designers/drafters. Ensuring compliance with Canadian electrical codes and standards, as well as relevant industry standards and regulations, while liaising with clients and approving authorities. Guaranteeing timely completion of project deliverables, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and demonstrating sound judgment and decisiveness.

What you will contribute to the team:

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution; Licensed Professional Engineer; 10-15 years of experience in electrical engineering; Proven experience in designing and implementing MV and LV electrical systems, including substations, motors and drives, power distribution, and power generation, along with a solid understanding of field instrumentation and automated equipment integration; Strong knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standards, relevant industry standards, and regulations, with familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) considered an asset. Understanding of MV and LV power distribution design concepts, equipment, and personnel safety strategies, as well as electrical system protection theories and applications; A comprehensive understanding of the effort required to complete electrical designs and deliverables; A strong sense of ownership and accountability for completed work; Excellent influencing skills and the ability to cultivate effective and trustworthy relationships within project teams and the organization; Demonstrated leadership capabilities; Project management skills, including budget and schedule controls, would be advantageous; Experience in a Design Build environment would be beneficial; Exceptional time management skills with the ability to multitask and manage numerous projects.
