Position Overview:
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), you will deliver a comprehensive range of nursing services to individuals, families, and communities, ensuring their safety and overall well-being. In this capacity, you will employ nursing methodologies, utilizing critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, while also educating, counseling, and advocating for patients and their families. Your role will involve a leadership position in fostering an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance.
You will be responsible for providing safe, high-quality, patient-centered care that aligns with the core values and vision of Alberta Health Services.
Required Qualifications: - Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of specific free courses is mandatory: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of recent nursing experience.
- Proficient computer skills in Meditech Care Manager, Microsoft Office, and Outlook.
- Expertise in wound care, wound vac, continence care, and ostomy care.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Demonstrated initiative and capability to work independently.
- Utilizes advanced nursing knowledge, complex decision-making, and critical thinking skills, along with collaborative care approaches and evidence-informed practices.
- Strong nursing competencies and the ability to improve client care while managing complex situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a compassionate and caring demeanor, and a commitment to client safety and quality improvement initiatives are essential.
- Holistic and advanced assessment skills, adherence to the CNA professional Code of Ethics, Registered Nursing Competencies, and an understanding of the Destination Home initiative for AHS are required.
- Capability to meet the physical demands of the role.
- A master's degree in nursing or a related field is preferred.
- 1-3 years of Case Management experience is advantageous.
- Experience in Medicine/Surgery is preferred.
