Nurse Practitioner in Charge Position

McLean Hospital is a leading psychiatric hospital providing comprehensive mental health services in the Boston area and beyond. As a Nurse Practitioner in Charge, you will oversee day-to-day clinical services on an inpatient unit caring for adult patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the multidisciplinary clinical team
  • Provide clinical services to assigned patients every business day
  • Document each clinical visit in the medical record and complete treatment plans
  • Participate in team rounds and coordinate treatment and discharge planning
  • Oversee appropriate medical care and communicate with referring sources and primary care physicians
  • Attend program and hospital administrative meetings and comply with hospital policies
  • Participate in utilization management, risk management, and quality assurance activities
  • Provide supervision to medical trainees and nursing trainees

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited graduate school
  • Clinical experience in acute psychiatric illness in inpatient settings preferred
  • Board certification in psychiatric/mental health advanced practice nursing (CNS or NP)
  • Current, active, unrestricted licensure as a Massachusetts CNS or NP with prescriptive authority
