About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Associate Vice President to lead our Transportation team. As a key member of our senior team, you will be responsible for building, managing, and leading the Transportation discipline through developing, tracking, and implementing an annual business plan and multi-year strategy for growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Strategy
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive business plan and multi-year strategy for the Transportation discipline.
    • Ensure that decisions such as staffing, project delivery, and business development are aligned with the organization's business plan and vision.
  • Business Development and Client Management
    • Liaise with existing and develop future clients to support major pursuits and proposals.
    • Monitor budgets and schedules to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Project Management and Technical Support
    • Manage tasks, team, schedules, budgets, cost control processes, and project work procedures.
    • Identify and manage project issues and risks, and collaborate with other offices and managers across Canada.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Provide technical support and guidance to the design and planning teams.
    • Oversee projects and project performance, ensuring they meet professional standards and quality requirements.
    • Actively grow the group, recognize and mentor leaders, and implement succession planning.
  • Communication and Representation
    • Liaise with clients, suppliers, regulatory agencies, utility companies, and contractors.
    • Represent RVA in professional associations and agencies.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
    • Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) within the province of Ontario.
    • 20 years of progressive industry experience in a similar role for an engineering consulting firm.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Strong organization leadership skills.
    • Practical knowledge of technical design, construction sequencing, and constructability.
    • Experienced in meeting timelines and budgets, proposal writing, client development, and other skills appropriate to consulting.
    • Demonstrates superior oral and written English communication skills.
    • Possess a strong ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with staff and clients.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.
    • Knowledge about industry trends and best practices.
