Position Overview

In this role, the Loss Prevention (LP) Associate will report to both the Store Manager and the Area Loss Prevention Manager. The LP Associate is tasked with the daily execution of all Loss Prevention strategies and initiatives within their designated location. Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to, achieving shortage and safety objectives, identifying and safely apprehending shoplifters, recovering merchandise, conducting audits, utilizing LP technology, and training store staff on Loss Prevention topics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and enforce all Loss Prevention strategies and policies in collaboration with Store Management and the Area Loss Prevention Manager.
  • Assist in training store personnel on Loss Prevention policies, procedures, and initiatives alongside the Store Manager and Area Loss Prevention Manager.
  • Identify and safely apprehend shoplifters or recover merchandise in compliance with legal and company guidelines.
  • Implement loss reduction strategies in partnership with store teams and Loss Prevention senior management.
  • Utilize Loss Prevention technology, including CCTV, Access Control, EAS, and exception-based reporting systems.
  • Employ the store RFID Inventory system and provide training to store team members.
  • Support assigned locations in conducting financial inventory and RFID-based cycle counts.
  • Maintain regular communication with other LP team members and facilitate cross-departmental communication among store staff.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in Loss Prevention or Asset Protection within a multi-unit environment.
  • Thorough understanding of Canadian federal, provincial, and local laws and regulations concerning apprehensions and safety.
  • Provincial licensing is mandatory for this position.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting Internal Investigations and managing external apprehension programs.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with law enforcement and legal professionals.
  • Experience with Loss Prevention technologies and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and principles of inventory accuracy.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective time management abilities.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment under pressure.
  • Proficient in MS Office and G-suite applications.
  • Ability to stand or walk for the entire shift and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular travel within assigned locations is necessary.
