Position SummaryWork Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm / PRN
Under the guidance of the Chief Radiation Therapist, the Radiation Therapy Specialist is responsible for executing treatment and simulation protocols as directed by the Radiation Oncologist. This role involves performing radiation treatment and simulation tasks in alignment with the Radiation Oncologists' directives and departmental standards. Accurate documentation of simulation setups and procedural details is essential. Responsibilities also include preparing and/or administering IV and oral contrast, conducting point-of-care testing for pregnancy, and ensuring readiness for IV contrast administration. The specialist will prepare the treatment area and equipment for patients according to prescribed protocols, including the placement of immobilization devices, adjustment of treatment apparatus, verification of parameters, and application of protective measures. Clear communication of procedures, including pre- and post-treatment explanations, is vital to reassure and inform patients throughout their experience.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Level I - Completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program and at least registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or eligibility for registration; less than 3 years of experience in radiation therapy. If eligible, must successfully complete the registry examination within 6 months of employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association is mandatory.

Potential exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogens, biohazardous waste, chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, communicable diseases, electrical hazards, varying floor surfaces, temperature extremes, indoor/outdoor conditions, latex, lighting, patient care/handling injuries, radiation, shift work, and potential travel. Use of personal protective equipment may be required, and environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and tasks.
