Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Capital Planning Director to join our team at Academica Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the capital planning process, including space management, records management, and capital planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the capital planning process, including developing preliminary project cost estimates and facilitating the Strategic Capital and Infrastructure Planning Committee to develop a consensus on the annual capital plan/budget and five-year capital plan/budget forecast.
  • Execute the annual capital plan/budget, working with procurement to secure designers, contractors, and suppliers to execute the capital plan.
  • Provide guidance, oversight, and mentorship to the FMS Project Manager and Space Planner, as well as oversight to the College's space planning, including masterplan development.
  • Develop and implement cost-effective projects, working with designers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure the delivery of the capital plan.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a 4-Year Degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 9 years of related work experience, demonstrating in-depth project management skills and leadership skills.
  • Experience with capital planning, including application of legislation such as the Ontario Building Code, OHS Act, and Construction Lien Act.
  • Experience dealing with consultant and contractor contracts, including OAA Agreement and CCDC2.
  • Experience managing space requirements for a medium-sized organization.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, with conflicting requirements, to reach a common solution on a variety of issues.
  • Proven ability to read construction drawings and communicate information to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with Health and Safety in a Construction environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, standards, principles/practices, and ministry and municipal policies.
  • Knowledge of Energy Management, GHG Emissions, and facility sustainability.
  • Thorough understanding of Project Management and Budget Management processes.
  • Excellent leadership, mentorship, and collaboration skills.
  • Valid Class G Driver's License.
