About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Flight Software Engineer to join our team at Sierra Space. As a key member of our Orbital Mission and Services (OMS) division, you will be responsible for designing and developing flight software for spacecraft missions, including civilian and DoD applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop flight software for spacecraft missions, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Analyze and evaluate satellite and constellation capabilities, mission concepts, and system requirements to inform software design decisions.
  • Contribute to the development of software tools and methodologies for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, and automated build.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure software meets customer needs and is delivered on time.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in software development for spacecraft and embedded systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on embedded systems and real-time operating systems.
  • Strong understanding of C++ and experience with industry-standard software languages.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft flight software development and experience with software tools for requirements tracking and code reviews.
  • Ability to work in an Agile Scrum environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with spacecraft flight software development and experience with software tools for requirements tracking and code reviews.
  • Knowledge of memory, timing, and throughput constraints in embedded systems and ability to create robust and sound designs.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard software languages, such as Python.
  • Experience with software development methodologies, such as Agile/Scrum.
